The housing market’s prolonged slump is pushing many real estate agents to leave the industry or seek second jobs, The Wall Street Journal reports.
The downturn is also affecting related sectors, such as mortgage lending and home appraisal. Smaller firms are particularly vulnerable, often being acquired by larger companies that can provide comprehensive services.
As a result, the National Association of Realtors has seen a decrease in membership, with 1.4 million members in April compared to 1.6 million in October 2022.
