| ➊ Water cutbacks in the southwest: The federal government asked Arizona, Nevada, and Mexico to reduce water consumption amid a historic drought. The cuts will primarily focus on the Glen Canyon and Hoover Dams. The Colorado river basin has been in a drought for 23 years, but this is the second consecutive year the government has called for cuts. Titan’s Takeaway: Agricultural technology is one of the fastest growing sectors as a warmer planet puts water and crop yields under duress. Technology that does more with less, such as irrigation systems that monitor a crop’s water yields, is becoming increasingly vital as the climate crisis heats up. |

| ➋ U.K. inflation hits double digits: United Kingdom consumer prices rose 10.1% in July, more than expected and the fastest rate in 40 years. Food prices constituted a significant portion of the inflation increase, illustrating that though energy costs are a considerable burden – and only expected to get worse come October – there are multiple factors impacting rising prices in the United Kingdom. Titan’s Takeaway: We don’t think that U.K. and E.U. inflation has peaked as energy supply and pipeline pressure remain tight due to Russia’s war on Ukraine. The Bank of England, historically conservative in hiking rates, will likely boost rates another 50 basis points in September. |
