An Ohio real estate developer plans to build a Publix-anchored shopping center at University Parkway and Lorraine Road.

An affiliate of North American Properties just bought a vacant 19-acre tract for $3.32 million from Schroeder Manatee Ranch Inc., the master developer of Lakewood Ranch.

NAP has taken a $16.2 million construction loan from USAmeriBank of Clearwater to finance the project, court records show.

The project, which documents indicate will be called University Corner, also will contain other retail/commercial tenants plus four outparcels for development.

Lorraine Road was just opened between University Parkway, the dividing line between Manatee and Sarasota counties, and Fruitville Road.
