Customers at a local Starbucks got an unexpected jolt after a vehicle plowed into the coffee shop this afternoon.

The Starbucks at 3571 Bee Ridge Road was evacuated after a driver crashed a vehicle into the business’ glass storefront. Emergency services responded to a call about the incident at 1:35 p.m. today.

The crash occurred after a woman drove over a wheel stop in the parking lot and into the structure itself, according to Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kaitlyn Johnston. The crash shattered some glass and also damaged the frames of the window, she said, and authorities are currently in the process of clearing the scene
