Sam Snead’s American Grill (1830 S. Osprey Ave., 906-7771, samsneadssarasota.com), a Southside Village favorite where folks have been going for years to watch golf and other sports while dining on steaks, ribs, burgers, chicken and chops, is closing. Also a destination spot for quaffing cocktails, beer and wine at the bar, the owner of Sam Snead’s told employees this weekend that the business would close in two weeks, according to the report below by our partners at SNN.

Reached by phone this morning at the restaurant, an employee at Sam Snead’s declined to comment on the future of the eatery. The Orlando based Pike Corporation, which offers licensing opportunities for Sam Snead’s restaurants, has not yet responded to requests for comments from SNN or the Herald-Tribune. A manager at the Sam Snead’s in Orlando declined to comment on the future of the Sarasota location.
