Google is now on Twitter – Gwitter? Twoogle?

As ironic as it might seem, Google has not utilized their account on Twitter

It feels either like going to the big dance and not seeing your crush there or on the other hand it feels a bit like a lion batting a baby antelope around.

Google + Twitter = Twoogling?

Their first post, a Twoogle if you will, was a binary message (way to geek it up Google)

: “I’m 01100110 01100101 01100101 01101100 01101001 01101110 01100111 00100000 01101100 01110101 01100011 01101011 01111001 00001010”

Roughly translated to : I’m F E E L I N G L U C K Y

According to Loren Baker, editor at Search Engine Journal, he espouses that this google tweet on twitter is a sign of something.

Mr. Baker then elaborates to a post from John Battelle, “So why did Google really buy YouTube? My answer, which of course looks brilliant given it’s 20/20 hindsight: YouTube was a massive search asset. After all, YouTube now gets more searches than Yahoo, Google’s closest search rival.“

Battelle argues that Twitters main asset may not be its userbase or its buzz, but its “Real time. Converational Search”

Mr. Baker goes on to discuss Google’s possible mindset and acceptance of twitter and his detail and perspective are very insightful. For a tech newbie like myself I had trouble pulling myself away from reading and wanted to post something linking to his Journal. After reading a few of his posts, I will be back to read more!
